World No. 3, Alexander Zverev has called for tournament organizers to give the world No 1 an exemption.
Zverev does not want an unfair advantage, and he would like to see Djokovic at the Australian Open.
Speaking on Tennis Australia’s decision to make vaccination mandatory, Zverev said: “This is not about tennis, this is about the virus. We are visiting a different country and they are allowing us to enter, we need to follow the rules.”
"It's difficult because it's a political issue, but a visit to the country has nothing to do with tennis. If the country lets us in, we have to follow the rules. I hope he plays. After all, I'm third in the world. If he doesn't play, it's easier for me to win the tournament. However, he is World No.1 and he should be there. I hope the Australian government will make an exception or whatever it takes for him to be there and be able to play," Zverev said.
Zverev recently celebrated against Djokovic in the semifinals of the final tournament in Turin, and then in the final against Daniil Medvedev.
After the victory against the Serbian tennis player, he stated that he is the greatest of all time, which he followed up with this agitation with the Australian authorities.
